The Burning Man festival is an experience that’ll take you far beyond your wildest dreams as you step into a reality unlike any other.
When you head into the depth of Black Rock City in the vast and vacant Nevada Desert of the United States, you probably don’t expect to stumble into an abstract metropolis of art and self expression.
You’ll find an unbelievable, totally breathtaking and wildly unique temporary city of 48,000 inhabitants, all living out of tents, cars, caravans and on couches and mattresses comfortably placed on the back trailers.

Become part of an experimental community that leaves the conformed structures and norms of society behind. The aim of the whole shindig: to “challenge its members to express themselves and rely on themselves to a degree that is not normally encountered in one’s day-to-day life”.
During the festival, everyone is asked to bring forms of art and gifts that they can be exchanged with others (so that everyone can leave with a pieces of art to remember the life-changing experience).
For anyone lucky enough to experience it today, it’s hard to believe that the legendary festival originated as a small gathering on a tiny beach in San Francisco in 1986. For 8-days, there are no rules, as an ancient lakebed referred to as ‘la playa’ (Spanish for ‘the beach’), becomes the temporary home of creative and open individuals from around the globe, only to be left with no trace of the magical metropolis one-week later.
Every year, The Burning Man Festival is centred around a theme that is devised to create a meaningful bond between a large-spanning population of complete strangers. The theme becomes the basis of a wild art project of radical self-expression that involves costumes, artist models and entertaining performances of everything from flame-throwing dances and theatrical performances, to live bands and mud-wrestling. It’s totally insane as the festival is concluded with the burning of a 40-foot wooden man.
For this virtually unknown and completely unbelievable event – the desert is your oyster and the sky is your limit.
