Going for the record

On Sunday 10th June, the Australian town of Maryborough will attempt for the 3rd time to break into the Guinness World Records for the world's largest organised pub crawl - with over 3,000 people expected to take part in this all-day (and night!) event.

With their world-first crack at the quirky title 2 years ago, Maryborough broke its own record in 2006 with thousands of drinkers crammed into 16 pubs across town.  Since then, both London and Halifax (Canada) have made successful attempts at the record, as Maryborough plans to re-take its crown.

To qualify, drinkers are required to visit 10 pubs in 6 hours, and sink at least one drink in each - alcoholic or not.

And in another world-first, Perth company Thirsty Swagman, who specialise in pub-crawl themed tours, will offer all-inclusive packages to this event departing from Brisbane, Queensland.  With people coming from as far away as Finland in previous crawls, their tour will offer an experience unlike any other... including their own party bus, pub-crawl themed day tours before and after the big event, and special shirts to mark the occasion.
