It's never been cheaper to travel

If you have been ignoring travel websites lately thinking that you can't afford to travel, think again. The silver lining of this recession is that everyone is offering deep discounts in an effort to lure tourists.

Airlines lost a lot of travellers last year when soaring gas prices forced them to tack on fuel surcharges and cut back on flights, but fuel costs have dropped and the demand is still low so they are dropping prices in order to entice people to fly.

The drop in demand for flights is not because people are postponing or cancelling their vacation plans, but is caused primarily because business travel has been seriously curtailed by many companies. Travel providers are hoping that regular folks can help pick up some of that slack.

The thing to keep in mind is that some of these deals are perishable so you have to pounce when you see them.
