10 Smallest Bars in the World

Size doesn't always matter. These beer shacks may be tiny, but they have more charm than watering holes triple their size.

From pubs in New Zealand and Mexico, to bars in the USA and Switzerland, some of the world's most unique establishments have made this list.

Here they are, all promising to keep you hydrated:

1 - Smallest Bar in Florida, USA
About the size of a jail cell, this 72-foot bar is tucked between two buildings on action-packed Duval Street.

2 - Oasis Roadhouse in QLD, Australia
Just 2 patrons, nearly the entire population of this outback North Queensland town - can fit comfortably into this 21-square-foot watering hole.

3 - Close Quarters Pub in Avon Lake, USA
Near the shores of Lake Erie, this local dive is divided among 12 chairs, 11 stools and a stack of flags, maps and postcards which cover every inch of the walls and ceiling.

4 - Mou Very in Dunedin, New Zealand
Less than six feet wide, New Zealand's smallest bar boasts an incredible wine and beer selection – but you'll have to hold it in… there are no toilets.

5 - Slims Elbow Room in Cabo San Lucas, Mexico
A tiny four-stool bar, Slims Elbow is plastered with signed dollar bills and pictures of tequila-fuelled tourists.

6 - The Nutshell in Suffolk, England
With room for only 20 people, this historical hangout served its first pint in 1867.

7 - Smallest Whisky Bar on Earth in St. Maria, Switzerland
While tiny, this place won't leave you dry with over 200 types of whiskey on offer. It holds the Guinness World Record for the "Smallest Permanently Licensed Bar in the World"

8 - Piano Bar in Tokyo, Japan
With an interior modelled after a German castle, the skinny, two-story Piano Bar is hidden among a cluster of bars beneath the train tracks on Nonbei Yokocho (which translates to "drunkard's alley")

9 - 12sqm Bar and Café in Beijing, China
Today it's trebled in size and holds about 20 people, but keeps things cosy with dim lighting, cushioned window seats, and a bookshelf lined with Lonely Planet guides. It's run by an Aussie, so hardness is guaranteed.

10 - The Rake in London, England
The 91-square-foot Rake is not only London's smallest pub, but also offers one of the most international beer selections in the city.
