WA contingent help re-write the record books
Perth's Kenneth Hart describes Maryborough's attempt at the World's Greatest Pub Crawl as the "Ashes of drinking".
And that's why when he caught wind of the Heritage City's attempt to steal the record away from London, he rounded up six of his best mates and set sail for Maryborough.
Kenneth and his mates from the Thirsty Swagman team yesterday added seven tallies to Maryborough's successful record attempt.
"We're going hard mate," said Kenneth when the Chronicle caught up with him at the Criterion Hotel early yesterday evening.
"We flew up to Brisbane on Friday morning and had our first beer at the airport. Then we did the pre-pub crawl last night."
Kenneth and his mates operate www.worldsbiggestpubcrawl.com, aimed at organising tours of all the world's great beer drinking events.
Next year they promised to bring a whole plane-load of West Australians for what they hope will be an annual pilgrimage.
"We're all from Perth, and we tried to get some people from Brisbane," he said.
"But people from Brisbane are soft."
