Swagmen rehydrated
ONCE a jolly swagman camped...in a pub?
A bunch of mates from Perth travelled up to Queensland at the weekend to take part in the World's Greatest Pub Crawl in Maryborough, spending almost every waking moment with a beverage at hand.
The group was escorted along the east coast by Aussie pub-crawl tour operator, Thirsty Swagman — and even managed to squeeze in a "hair of the dog" stop at the Bundaberg Rum distillery yesterday.
With their eyes hanging out of their heads, the group were surprisingly high spirited by the time they got to Bundaberg.
"We reclaimed the ashes from the Poms and now we've got back the pub crawl crown," thirsty swagman Andy Dalton said.
More than 2700 people attended the mass drinking session, smashing London's Guinness World Record by about 400 people.
"It was thirsty work," Thirsty Swagman business owner Kenneth Hart said.
"We even drank a few pubs dry — they ran out of alcohol," he said.
"Now they've all got to go back to work, while I start planning the next tour."
