Pub Crawl To Span 4 Continents In 25 Days
Have you got $10,208.45 burning a hole in your pocket and have you been looking for something bizarre to spend it on? An Australian tour company will drink to that. Actually, they're hoping you'll drink to that as they finalize details of what they're calling the world's biggest pub crawl.
The firm, appropriately called the Thirsty Swagman, aims to take travellers to such exotic locales as London, Munich, Prague, Reykjavik, Dusseldorf, Austria, Thailand, New Zealand, Honolulu and Cancun. But you won't be there to see the sights or visit the tourist attractions. Your mission, should you choose to accept it, is to visit a number of bars in every one of those countries and cities.
Think of it as The Amazing Race only with booze. The tour operators plan to take those crazy enough to pony up the money to 60 pubs in 11 cities in nine countries on four continents in just 25 days. "This tour is the ultimate adventure to the finest nightlife destinations on earth, without any boring sightseeing or early wakeups," vows Swagman founder Kenneth Hart in a statement. "Those who embark on this journey will have a story to tell for life." Although with all that alcohol involved it's hard to say just how much of it you'll actually remember.
The tour leaves from London, England on March 24th and spends no more than three or four days in any one destination. Canada isn't on the list - a shame, when you think about what beer means to this country - but the tour does at least briefly bring you home. The plane from Cancun, Mexico has a nighttime layover in Montreal, before flying back to London at the end of the long journey.
If you're thirsty - and rich - enough to afford this trip, you won't be alone. But you may feel like it. Only 25 people will be allowed to go and it has to be booked by December 31st - ironically, New Year's Eve, a time when most people are thinking a lot about drinking.
