Snowbombing – When Woodstock Meets the Ski Slopes
Forget those ordinary festivals spent getting shoved against a stage barrier in sweating crowds and smouldering heat. This festival is smouldering hot, in the coldest climate you can possibly imagine.
It’s majestically exotic, 100% exhilarating and possibly one of the best experiences you’ll ever have… It’s called Snowbombing, and it’s one festival that has gone from a small novelty to sell more ski holidays, to one of Europe’s wildest and most action packed festivals.
Imagine taking in the crisp fresh air in a dense forest atop a snowy mountain in the middle of the Austrian Alps. You’ll arrive in Austria’s biggest cable car, to a little Austrian town amidst numerous ski slopes, where you’ll ski or snowboard under clear blue skies by day, and party to cutting edge performances from diverse musical offerings (everything from Dub step to Indie-rock) by night. It’s the hottest party Europe has to offer this winter, where you’ll party in everything from Reggae Shacks to Igloos.
The concept of combining snow sports and music festivals is a refreshingly new phenomenon that was only born in the past decade – and thank god it’s finally here! Head to Snowbombing and you’ll spend a full week in an enchanting Ski Resort in Mayrhofen, where five wild music parties are hosted each day across the dreamy mountain peak. Spend your nights partying to world class acts in dangerously tempting venues that you’ll never want to leave, and when morning comes you can hit the ski slopes all day long before spending the afternoons listening to chilled-out music while recovering in deck-chairs spread across the different venues.
Dance the night away in an igloo – The Arctic Disco
Forget the sticky floors and the stale smell of beer and cigarettes – this fresh venue is made of nothing but pure crystal clear snow. Party all night long in a mystical sky-high igloo 2000 meters above sea-level, where you’ll drink out from mugs made of ice while alternating DJ’s pump out lively dance tunes all night long. The line-up in this venue is kept secret until you arrive at the resort, but have no fear – a strong history of A-class acts guarantees a consistently high-quality line-up.
When inside the Arctic Disco – don’t even think about lighting up a cigarette, the smoke can’t escape and can spend up to 24 hours seeping into the ice-walls. If you feel like taking in some smoke anyway, you can always head outside where you’ll find merry partygoers dancing around a luminous bonfire under a star filled sky.
Another plus – this place is a disco by night, and a comprehensive recuperation venue by day. Want to bask in the likes of a steaming hot tub to sweat away the night’s excesses? No problem – you can even snuggle up with blankets in the Ice Cinema afterwards.

Party amongst an eerie forest backdrop – Backcountry party
Pass through a 2km tunnel in the centre of a mountain, though a dense numinous forest, past a cascading waterfall, endless snowfields and even an ice glacier before arriving at “Floitental”, an old forgotten valley where you’ll party all night long in a traditional farm stay that’s been converted into the wildest festival you’ll ever experience. It’s an extraordinary atmosphere with an old wooden hut serving ice-cold beverages and magically illuminated stage to dance the night away in the fresh Austrian wilderness.
Then it’s to the Street Party…
You wouldn’t expect to see a scene like this one in a picturesque village lined with charming traditional Tyrolean chalets. For the street party, all the roads are closed and everyone hits the streets in fancy dress. Previous years have seen the likes of Zombies, Clowns, Olympic champions and much more. It’s nothing short of pure madness, with musical performances taking to the stage early in the afternoon and continuing until late into the evening.
The Line Up
It started as a gimmick to sell more ski holidays, but these days Snowbombing, is one of the main highlights of the year for European musical festivals. You can always count on the line-up to be up to standard with this one. With past head-lining acts from the likes of Dizzee Rascal, The Vaccines, Example, Chase and Status and much more – you’re guaranteed nothing but quality performances and wild times.
