Top 10 Things You Can’t Miss at Munich Springfest 2026
Munich Springfest (Frühlingsfest) is a party you just can’t miss. You get all the fun and excitement of Oktoberfest, but you don’t have to wait until September to enjoy it! And when you do finally want to check this off your bucket list, here are ten parts of it you absolutely can’t miss.

1. Opening Day Parade
Munich Frühlingsfest kicks off with some awesome opening day ceremonies, including the popular opening day parade. This is when the brewery owners and showmen make their way across Munich to the Theresienwiese for the first time to get the party officially started. You’ll get to see the horse-drawn beer carriages, tons of beautiful outfits and performances, and much more along the parade route.
2. Free beer!
Yes, you read that right. Be among the first people at the festival and you’ll be rewarded with free beer! After the first keg is tapped on opening day (at 2:30pm), they pass out beer from this fresh barrel to those in the immediate vicinity. Fresh and free is our favorite kind of beer, as a matter of fact.

3. The flea market
On the first Saturday of Springfest, you can do some excellent shopping at Bavaria’s largest flea market here on the Theresienwiese. Organized by the Bavarian Red Cross, this market features around 2,000 vendor booths where you can find just about anything you’re looking for. This event is for one day only so come with a list!
4. Classic car show
The next day (the first Sunday of the festival), you can check out the classic car show presented by the Automobil-Club München. Head to the back of the festival where you’ll be able to see some seriously well-kept vintage cars from all over Bavaria.
5. Day of Customs
During the Day of Bavarian Customs, you’ll be able to see some awesome Bavarian traditions in person. Traditional costume clubs host dance performances like the Schuhplattler and there will be brass bands in the tents and other performances by street musicians throughout the festival grounds.
6. Famous German musical artists
If you’re already a fan of German schlager hits (the typical German pop songs you hear in the tents at Oktoberfest), then you’ll love knowing that here at Munich Springfest you may get to see those songs performed by the original singers.
Singers like DJ Otzi (“Hey Baby”) and Mickie Krause (“Schatzi, Schenk Mir ein Foto”) regularly make appearances inside the Springfest beer tents. Beyond that, the bands change all the time so you’re guaranteed to have a unique experience.
7. Friday night fireworks
On the two Friday evenings of the festival, don’t miss the big beautiful fireworks shows, starting at 10pm.
8. Family days
Tuesdays during Munich Springfest are known as “Family” days. On these two days, there will be discounted prices for rides and other events throughout the grounds from noon until 7pm. If you’re looking to ride the Ferris wheel or any of the other 29 rides here, this is the time to do it. (That means more money for beer, obviously.)
9. Amazing Bavarian food
Springfest may be a “beer festival,” but don’t miss out on getting to try tons of delicious Bavarian food. Festivals like this one have become synonymous with things like bratwursts, hendl (roasted half chickens), giant pretzels, and more. It may be a different season, but you can still expect the same great festival fare.
10. The best beer
There are only two beer tents at Munich Springfest, but the important thing to know is that one of them serves the best beer in Munich—Augustiner. Be sure to spend some time in the Festhalle Bayernland tent to get your fill. (You’ll still be able to find beer from the other five big Munich breweries here, but you definitely shouldn’t miss the best one.)
